I got called out for listening to the radio on my way to work; "people still listen to the radio?".Does anyone else still listen to the radio? Or what do you listen to on your drive (if anything)?#thoughtoftheday #oldman #radio #radiokilledthevideostar #newjob #nowhiring #logistics #transportation #WGOC #Zelistotle #commute

All the time. What I listen to often depends on where I am and what i'm doing. The rain gives anywhere from sports radio to c b c. I'm usually surprised by how opposed to AM radio. When on the job pod casts enter the mix. My usual mix for pod casts is Peter Mansbridge's The Bridge, the Bob McCown and Busted Open. At 1 time, all of these shows were on satellite radio. But I would sometimes miss them. They became available or we're always available as a podcast.Usual local radio. 96.7 chym, fan 590 toronto and 960 calgary, 680 and 660 news talk, 560 cfos Owen Sound oldies and news as well as 90.1 Christian radio, 92.3 bounce, 93.7 country, 98.7 cbc radio one, 101.7 cknx, and 106.5 cixk.Depending on the weather. I can also get stations from Michigan, Barrie and Sudbury when at home on the peninsula. Just never all of those locations at the same time. I know the National Park has a station, but it's a low-powered one. I'm too far away.

I tried the sports radio but they are obviously paid by the local NHL / CFL team because no one all day had any criticism, just love. I have tried the political station but too many farmers complaining that it is too dry or too wet and Blame government for the global warming. The political candidates are all dweebs wanting new sidewalks and more lanes but put up street lights every block set turn to red and we have no one good to chose from. I have settled for the local country station for my old red farm truck. Good news is the radio advertising is pretty much dead so lots of music..:)

I totally listen to the radio/morning radio when driving! But, I'm pretty old.. I even won concert tickets last month by calling in. Siri makes it much easier to dial in. I have the radio stations saved. So I just say "Siri, call QFM 96" lol! Most other times like camping, golfing, and kayaking I listen to my extensive Spotify playlists on shuffle

I’ve started listening to audiobooks via the Libby app. You check out audiobooks through the app via your local library just as you would a hard/digitial copy.

Podcasts for me! Almost everything played on the radio is paid for play, and the radio DJ’s these days 🤦♂️. They speak as though they are talking to room full of 9 year olds. lol I can understand being called out 😂

Trust and reputation go hand in hand, in that they can take years to build and mere moments to destroy. Rebuilding that trust/reputation takes longer than it did to build it in the first place, which puts more importance on being respectful, professional and logical when dealing with people and/or issues.#thoughtoftheday #Wednesdaywisdom #WGOC #Zelistotle #trucking #transportation #trust #reputation #professional #nowhiring #3PL #brokerage #HRstuff

Make a point today to tell one of the unsung heroes at the office what a great job they are doing. Hopefully they will do the same and that starts a chain of appreciation.#Fridaythought #thoughtoftheday #positivity #companyculture #workhard #worksmart #WGOC #Zelistotle #appreciation

Networking is basically a fancy name for being nice and talking to people. There are many reasons why I love networking, the main one being that I genuinely enjoy doing it. I have met so many great people in the transportation industry through various events and functions.A lot of the people that I have met over the years have become close friends, others have become co-workers, some I've become a customer of and others have become a customer. #networking #WGOC #Zelistotle #thoughtoftheday #network #introductions #6degreesofseparation #kevinbacon #GlennCaldwell #transportation #nowhiring #coworkers #jobs

Really felt like I was a part of something this weekend at the Terry Fox run in Georgetown. The community raised over $26,000 which is the most that this event has raised in Georgetown in over 20 years (and second most all time).Lots of amazing volunteers and sponsors (Ruffin's Pet Centres, McDonald's, Terra Cotta Cookie Co Ltd, Pizzaiolo The Pizza Maker's Pizza) that helped make this happen, along with all the energetic participants. I love that my nephew (whose middle name is Terry after Terry Fox) is leading the pack in his white T-shirt."I’m not a dreamer, and I’m not saying this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles. I have to.” - Terry Fox#TerryFox #TeryFoxrun #GeorgetownON #HaltonHills #masterofceremonies #fundraiser #community #WGOC #Zelistotle #charity #givingback #sponsors #fundraising #running #myreasonwhy #cancer #beatcancer

If you are one of 15 candidates interviewing for one position at a company, would you want to be the first person interviewed, the last person interviewed or somewhere in the middle? Anyone notice that it is damn near impossible not to spend a bunch of money every single day? I am not talking about $10 here and there.Seems like every day there is a $100 or more expense that seems to run its course. Could be a couple bags of groceries, a tank of gas, a hockey stick, some minor appliance for the house etc.I feel like an old man, but back in my day you could get a decent hockey stick for $20, a sub for $5 and a pile of groceries at a reasonable cost. Sigh.#oldman #inflation #COLA #WGOC #Zelistotle #transportation #costofliving #risingprices #trucking #logistics

Last night I made my return to organized hockey (low-level adult beer league). I forgot how much I missed being part of a team; the banter in the dressing room, the friendly chirping on the ice and a little bit of competition to keep the competitive juices flowing.I've posted before that lots of people prefer to hire people who have grown up playing team sports, and last night was a reminder of why.You are born alone, you die alone, but in between you play on teams.PS I am currently welcoming recommendations for personal trainers, massage therapists, chiropractors and anything else that will make my body feel better than it does right now!#WGOC #Zelistotle #hockey #rechockey #beerleagueallstar #team #teammates #oldman #stillgotit #transportation #truckingPhoto Cred: Casey Bruton (to the disgust of Rachael McMunn)

You can tell your kid hundreds of times to say things like "please" or "thank you" or "excuse me" and they don't always listen. But as soon as they hear you say "$hit" when you drop something, they are repeating it all day.A similar thing could be said for your co-workers; you try to lead by example and say the right things, but sometimes it is a mistake or something negative that they replicate.PS, don't tell my wife the new word I "taught" our daughter today ;)#WGOC #Zelistotle #HRstuff #monkeysee #monkeydo #manners #thoughtoftheday #daddydaughter #trucking #transportation #nowhiring #transportationjobs #careers

August 27th, 2018 (first day at Wellington Group of Companies) compared to August 27th, 2024. They say working in transportation ages you, but quite frankly, I don't see it.6 years in the books at Wellington; there have been lots of personal and professional growth over this time and I have met some incredible people. Thanks to all of those who have contributed positively to my journey.#workanniversary #oldman #aging #everythinghurts #WGOC #Zelistotle #transportation #trucking #nowhiring #tenure #HRstuff #career #thankyou
